Нині у світовому велоспорті все частіше почали з’являтися так звані генії з табакерки – Ремко Евенполь, Ештон Ламбі, Еган Берналь та інші. Буквально за пару років педаляжу вони потрапляють до світової еліти – стають призерами чемпіонату світу, б’ють рекорди світу, виграють Тур де Франс. При цьому порушують всі основи, правила і закони підготовки. Сподіваюся, в шафі немає ні скелетів, ні подвійних стін. І через кілька років ми не будемо дивитися шоу Опри з черговим камін-аут.
ХТО ЦЕЙ МОНСТР?
Ця історія про Ештона Ламбі – дворазового рекордсмена світу з велоспорту на треку. З’явився він наче з неба впав. Вся несподіванка і неочікуваність його рекордів полягають у тому, що Ламбі до цього 10 років катав на гравійнику. А потім, впрдовж буквально року, вистрілив на треку. Ми вже звикли, що емтебешники – Кедел Еванс, Кріс Фрум і трековики – Бредлі Уіггінс, Герайнт Томас виграють Тур де Франс. Але гравійник, який встановлює рекорд світу в індивідуальній гонці переслідування – це те саме, якби марафонець любитель виграв забіг на стадіоні на чемпіонаті світу на 400 м. Або плавець, який прославився, перепливши Англійський канал, раптом виграє в басейні у Майкла Фелпса на дистанції 400 м комплексом.
СВІТОВИЙ РЕКОРД
Ештон Ламбі був націлений на світовий рекорд. Pan American Championship 2018 проходив в Мексиці на висоті 2000 м в розрідженому повітрі. Це давало Ештону перевагу – приблизно 1 секунду на кілометр. Чи чесно це? Питання до Міжнародної спілки велосипедистів, адже вони встановлюють правила. Перед змаганнями Ештон проїхав 6 кіл з темпом на рекорд світу і подумав, що не так це й важко і в нього є всі шанси на рекорд.
Якось в нульових, ще не сер Бреддлі Уіггінс проїхав прикидку 4 км за тиждень до старту і встановив на тренуванні світовий рекорд (Для чооооогоо ???). Дуже зрадів, пишався. Правда, недовго. До ранку. Коли він прокинувся і встав з ліжка, то просто рухнув на підлогу – ноги були ватяні і підкошувалися. Бреддлі навіть подумав, що паралізований. Імовірно, тренер Ештона Ламбі був мудрішим, ніж тренер Уіггінса, і не повторив його помилок.
Фінішував він з результатом 4: 07:251, покращивши світовий рекорд на 3 секунди
У тренера Ештона план на заїзд був простий – розігнатися і тримати темп 15,2 секунди на круг. Ламбі озвучив його по-своєму – швидкий старт, тримати потужність і страждати до кінця. Проїхавши більшу половину дистанції, що складається з 16-ти 250-ти метрових кіл, він жодного разу не вийшов навіть із 15 секунд. Тренер показував йому величезну перевагу і захоплено махав руками. Найважче стало за 3 кола до фінішу. Окислилися не тільки ноги, а й все тіло. Відчуття, нібито ти зроблений з вати. Ламбі думав тільки про одне – не сковувати плечі й не почати їхати як остання чайнота. Фінішував він з результатом 4:07:251, покращивши світовий рекорд на 3 секунди. Це був півфінал. У фіналі він показав результат 4:09, що так само було швидше за попередній світовий рекорд.
ТРАКТОР НА ПЕДАЛЯХ
Розпочав свою велосипедну кар’єру Ештон ще в глибокому дитинстві. Народився і виріс він в американській глухомані – на середньому заході. Жив на фермі. Для допомоги в господарстві батьки купили синові трактор на педалях з причепом. І ось, допомагаючи їм, він завантажував свій причіп і крутив педалі на тракторі з каденсом 30 обертів за хвилину. Це були перші тренування Ештона на розвиток велосипедних м’язів через силову роботу.
У школі, він, як і більшість його американських однолітків, був в біговій крос кантрі команді. Проте біг Ламбі ненавидів. З його мускулистою статурою йому дуже важко бігалося і він постійно отримував травми. Особливо часто його переслідувало запалення окістя. Якось, після чергової важкої травми, тренер дав йому крос тренінг на велосипеді. Ештону так сподобалося крутити педалі, що про біг він геть забув.
Першим його велосипедом був старий «TREK» батька, що висів у сараї. Спочатку він катався на ньому на заняття з музики – 15 км в одну сторону і 15 км в іншу. Потім його захопили довгі відстані. Кого ж в юності здивуєш короткою, хоч і швидкою дистанцією? А ось якщо ти проїдеш 160 км, заскочивши у віддалене велике місто, цим вже можна було гонорувати. Жив він у тій же глухомані і в окрузі були тільки гравійні дороги. Тому, стати гравійником було для нього не вибором, а швидше безвихідністю.
За словами Ештона, активно він почав катати років в 15-16. Його успішна гравійна кар’єра тривала до 26-ти років. За цей час він встиг ненадовго стати рекордсменом гонки поперек Канзасу. Понад 400 миль він проїхав за 23 години і 53 хвилини. Брав участь у популярній гонці «Дьорті Канза», в якій виграв свою вікову категорію і був 6-м в абсолюті. Саме цю гонку Ламбі вважає найскладнішою у своїй кар’єрі. Стояла неймовірна спека. Він хотів зійти, але дружина переконала проїхати ще 50 миль до наступного чекпойнту. І так, чекпойнт за чекпойнтом і Ештон доїхав до фінішу, накатавши неймовірну психологічну витривалість.
ЗУСТРІЧ З ВЕЛОТРЕКОМ
Ештон їздив дуже багато гонок і тренувань на далекі відстані. Але завжди мріяв знайти себе у чомусь, де він зможе бути кращим.
І все начебто у нього йшло непогано по гравійним вибоїнах, допоки він не дізнався, що неподалік є трав’яний трек, на якому всього дві смуги: одна – для їзди, друга – для обгонів. Який же гравійнік не захоче поганяти на треку по траві? Позичивши велосипед і мало не на ходу запитавши про правила, Ештон знаходить себе на треку. Це був 2016 рік. Йому було майже 26 років.
ЧЕМПІОН США
Після провалу на Олімпійських іграх 2016 в Ріо, федерація велоспорту США, USA Cycling, почала аналізувати успішний досвід у світі. Проаналізувавши шлях створення команди Австралії, була організована програма з пошуку трековиків серед шосе, МТБ і їм подібних. Мета програми – знайти мінімум 4-х спортсменів для командної гонки переслідування, які зможуть проїхати індивідуальну гонку переслідування швидше 4:30 хвилин. З такими показниками можна було розраховувати вийти з 4-х хвилин. Для 2016 року це був мінімум для високих результатів.
2017-го після тріумфального Чемпіонату США, на якому Ештон виграє гонку-переслідування з результатом 4:29, він успішно потрапляє до національної збірної. На тому ж чемпіонаті Ламбі також посідає друге місце в омніумі та груповій гонці за очками. Непоганий дебют. А про те, що Ештона взяли в національну збірну, його дружина дізнається з Інтернету.
ДВІЧІ РЕКОРДСМЕН
Після сенсаційного встановлення світового рекорду у 2018-му, Ештон починає ще більше займатися. Він починає працювати із трьома тренерами: 1-й – тренер національної збірної, 2-й – особистий тренер, 3-й – тренер по фізичній підготовці. Оскільки найближчий трек від Ештона знаходиться в восьми годинах їзди, він приїздить туди приблизно раз у місяць на кілька днів для виконання спеціальної роботи. А 80-90% всіх тренувань проводить на дорозі на самоті. Самотня гравійна душа. «Їзда на велосипеді – це медитація. Під час тренувань я відключаю мозок і просто насолоджуюся », – запевняє Ештон.
У вересні 2019 року на Pan American Championship в Болівії Ештон Ламбі покращує свій світовий рекорд практично на 2 секунди і проїжджає індивідуальну гонку переслідування 4 км з результатом 4:05:423.
На сьогодні більшість національних збірних, мабуть, прагнуть до подібного результату хоча б в командній гонці переслідування, в якій беруть участь 4 людини. А він зробив це сам зі швидкістю під 60 км / год, і це, враховуючи, втрату часу на розгін. Як на мене, це космічна, фантастична, неймовірна швидкість.
На думку Ламбі, індивідуальна гонка переслідування абсолютно не видовищна дисципліна. Увімкнув ти телевізор. Дивишся, о – трек. Стартанув учасник. Проїхав перший віраж – круто. Через кілька секунд він уже на другому віражі. На десятому віражі ти починаєш позіхати, а до кінця заїзду є велика ймовірність зануритися в солодку дрімоту. Набагато цікавіше дивитися командну гонку переслідування – вона в рази динамічніша і там більше боротьби. Тут я з Ламбі солідарний. Та й в пріоритеті у нього стоїть все-таки команда. Національна програма розрахована на Олімпіаду 2020 у Токіо. Успішним її завершенням буде завоювання медалей у командній гонці переслідування на 4 км. Наразі Ламбі і Ко поліпшили національний рекорд на 9 секунд, це 3:53:86 хвилини.
ЗОВНІ ЗОВСІМ НЕ ТЕМПОВИК
182 см зросту і з вагою 72 кг. За останній час Ештон схуднув на 5 кілограм. Жиру стало менше, м’язів більше. В одному інтерв’ю він заявляв, що робить силові вправи на ноги щодня, в іншому, що ходить в зал тричі на тиждень. У будь-якому випадку, трансформація його ніг за останні 3 роки суттєва. У залі він працює простою: у нього є тренувальна програма з кількістю сетів і підходів. На наступний тиждень збільшує навантаження на 3%. І так від тижня до тижня. Переглядаючи відео, які він виставляє в своєму інстаграмі, «ваги» у нього далеко не дитячі.
Зовні Ламбі не схожий на темповика. Ноги далеко від рами – можливо через накачані банки (Sagan style). Спина рівна, хват за кермо з прямими руками. Він більше схожий на спринтера. Або на пінчера. Для мене темповик – це Бредлі Уіггінс. Або Євген Берзін. Як сидять, як педалюють, статура. Хоча у них і різний типаж.
Схоже, коли Джо Фріл, відомий тренер з різних видів спорту на витривалість і автор бестселерів «Біблія велосипедиста», «Біблія триатлета» та інших, описував три головні якості велосипедиста – витривалість, сила і швидкість, мав на увазі саме Ештона Ламбі. У ньому все зійшлося – витривалість, вистраждана гравійною молодістю. Сила, напрацьована в дитинстві на тракторі. Жартую. Зал і анатомічна схильність. І, звичайно, швидкість та МПК – тут вже подяка мамі з татом.
ВОЛОДАР ПЕРСТНІВ (ВЕЛОСИПЕДА)
Зараз Ештон робить дуже багато інтервальної роботи. Тренування на довгі дистанції відійшли на другий план. База дозволяє. Сидить на велостанку. Це і зрозуміло, по грунтовці не дуже й поінтервалиш.
Я особисто завжди вважав гравійників костоломами-карданщиками – головне продавити передачу, без особливої естетики. Мабуть, це в мені трековий сноб говорив. А виходить, що і вони можуть швидко крутити педалі на треку.
Щодо його захоплень, то Ештон любить класичну музику (музична школа сформувала його вподобання в музиці), а також аудіо книги. Його улюблена – «Володар перстнів». За останній рік разів п’ять її прослухав (нейропсихології б відзначили для себе аутичний спектр). А його дружина є абсолютною фанаткою цієї книги, і вони постійно її обговорюють. Стверджує, що практикує йогу. А також важко працює у господарстві – то дрова нарубає, то шиншилу погодує.
ВУСА СТОРЧМА ПУЧКОМ ПЕТРУШКИ
Візитною карткою Ештона Ламбі є вуса. Він їх запустив давно, ще під час «листопад без гоління». Якось в перукарні йому їх підстригли і Ештону страшенно це не сподобалося. З того часу він стриже їх звичайним тримером. А коли на дворі висока вологість, вуса стають дибки і смішно стирчать пучком петрушки.
Бувають моменти, коли Ештону дуже важко, тоді він думає: «Мені неймовірно погано зараз, але це не відображає мою особистість. Це минеться. Я просто не можу дозволити собі думати, що велоспорт – відстій тільки тому, що мені саме в цей момент важко».
Він не приховує, що талановитий. Шалено хоче виграти Чемпіонат світу. Райдужна майка – його мрія.
РОЗДУМИ ПРО ГОНКУ
Ештон заявляє, що гонка переслідування на треку не повинна бути тактичною, а хто швидше, той і виграв. Ідея ж драфтінга (сидіти на колесі) для нього незрозуміла. В ілюмінаторі (гонка на вибування), наприклад, він міг виїхати і “намалювати” всім коло. Тому і любить гравійні гонки, так як там хто сильніший, той і виграє. Ти просто натягуєш до тих пір, доки інші не “відпадуть”. Шосейні гонки та критеріуми йому не подобаються. Можливо, через нелюбов до драфтінга. А можливо, через відсутність хороших пропозицій.
Ещтон не приховує, що талановитий. Але водночас стверджує, що неймовірно працьовитий. Його тренер про нього відгукується, як про дуже милого, доброго, позитивного і завжди усміхнену людину. Ніколи не пліткує. Коли у тебе все складається добре, то і позитивним бути набагато простіше. Шалено хоче виграти чемпіонат світу. Райдужна майка – його мрія.
ВІД МЕНЕ
Безумовно, Ештон Ламбі вже увійшов в історію. У грудні йому виповниться 29 років. Чи побачимо ми ще щось неймовірне і абсолютно не типове в його виконанні? Думаю, що так. Він безмежно обдарований. І вже зумів реалізувати свій талант. Величезний недолік – це відсутність досвіду. З досвідом спектр його рекордів був би значно ширшим. Дуже хочеться побачити його суперництво з Пітером Саганом.
Ештон просто вибрав правильних батьків, а не так, як Армстронг, який вибрав правильного лікаря
До цього часу він їздив винятково на генах, здоров’ї і працелюбності. У нього швидше за все (ніде не зустрічав про це інформацію) неймовірний МПК. Враховуючи його статуру й одразу друге місце в омніумі та груповій гонці в дебютному чемпіонаті США, у нього дуже багато білих м’язових волокон. Він зумів своїм активним дитинством, ендурансом, багатогодинними гонками наростити і червоних волокон. І тут якби все зійшлося. Неймовірна м’язова маса, що поглинає тонни кисню, навіть допомагає йому в переслідуванні, а не заважає. Ештон навчився тримати високу потужність впродовж тривалого часу – достатнього для встановлення світових рекордів.
Я закінчу розповідь про цю унікальну людину словами з коментарів під статтею про Ламбі. Його нік BlazingSaddles. Він написав, що Ештон просто вибрав правильних батьків, а не так, як Армстронг, який вибрав правильного лікаря. Його одразу ж звинуватили в хейтерстві. На що він відповів: «Я не Хейтер, але дуже заздрю. Я тренувався і ганявся 8 років. Був, часом, успішним, але навіть не побив рекорд США. Ештон може виграти Олімпіаду, чемпіонат світу і побити годинний рекорд. Трохи тактичної підготовки і перемога на Париж -Рубе не виглядає недосяжною. Ештон, у тебе є генетичний дар, за який багато хто б душу продав. Я ганявся роками в Канзасі і навіть був в декількох секундах від світового рекорду в переслідуванні на той час, але твоя швидкість і МПК – надзвичайні. Вижми максимум з цього. Хай щастить. Подумай про часовий рекорд. Це ідеально тобі підійде».
